Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You have decided to leave your current employment.

Write a letter to your employer in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • Explain why you are writing,
  • Explain why you have decided to leave the company,
  • Tell your employer what you plan to do after leaving.

Hi Max, I still remember my first day in the firm. I was full of energy and highly enthusiastic about joining the company. But as it is rightly said, "Every beginning has an end". So, with a heavy heart, I am writing this email to inform you about my resignation. Five years have gone by in a blink of an eye. During my engagement with the organization, I have seen many ups and downs, but I stood firmly with the firm. The journey was full of learning new skills in the field of Information Security, and especially under your guidance, I learnt the most. This is the right time to move ahead in my carrier and broaden my area of expertise. I hope you remember me requesting an opportunity in the quality assurance domain. However, you mentioned that the firm does not have a policy of internal transfer of resources. As per my requirement, I have found a job with a dual role as an Information Security subject matter expert and a quality assurance executive. This profile will help the organization utilize my current skillset and keep me motivated to enhance my knowledge in quality assurance. I hope you understand my situation and wish me luck in my future endeavours. Regards Thomas
