Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You are a resident of a large colony. You found a gold chain in the colony compound. You are willing to find the owner of the chain and therefore want the help of the authority.

Write an email to the Manager of the colony in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • Give a description of the chain and the place where you found it.
  • Ask help from Secretary of the colony in tracing the owner

Dear Mr Smith, I want to inform you that I have found a pretty expensive gold chain on Tuesday near my tent. Since that day, I am actively browsing a person who lost the chain. However, I am not able to end up my search successfully. That is why I thought you might help me during this research. I was walking through the garden, and I have realized something is shining just beside my tent. It was occasionally covered by dust and mug but still gorgeous. It seems nearly 50 cm, and it was mainly made of 24 karat gold, which is the most expensive one. It might be worth approximately 20.000 CAD. This might be a special gift. Thus I need to find the owner of the chain. You are the manager of the colony, and you know most members of this society. I am sure you have enough knowledge to guide me to find the owner. We can organize a meeting and inform the people about the lost chain. We can demand detailed descriptions from people about the chain ?f they claim this chain belongs to them. Your participation and support would be constructive to find the owner. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best Regards, Thomas
