Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You are a resident of a large colony. You found a gold chain in the colony compound. You are willing to find the owner of the chain and therefore want the help of the authority.

Write an email to the Manager of the colony in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • Give a description of the chain and the place where you found it.
  • Ask help from the Secretary of the colony in tracing the owner

Dear Manager, Last week I was leisurely strolling on the north side of the compound, closer to the pool area, and stumbled upon a gold chain. At first, I did not realize it was anything of value because it was partially buried under some dry grass; however, I identified a solid gold chain on a closer look. The design was nothing like what I have seen before; It has a cross pendant with diamond filling. The necklace resembles an actual rope, tightly twisted together. You could tell it is a significant loss to someone out there. I am, therefore, willing to find the owner and is seeking your assistance. Perhaps, we could send out a note to let the residence be aware, and if anyone wants to claim, we could ask them to give a description. We could also check the cameras, although sometimes this can be difficult since I don't know the actual time it was lost. Let me know your suggestions. I look forward to a positive response. Regards, Sam
