Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Dear Mr Smith My name is Thomas, and I had visited your restaurant for dinner on June 15th, 2020, at 9 p.m. with my family. Considering the popularity of The Mughlai restaurant, we were very excited to dine at your expensive restaurant. Our disappointment started when we had to wait for 30 minutes before we got a chance to place an order for some appetizers. But, unfortunately, it did not stop there, and we had to wait for another 30 minutes to get our food which was cold finally. We understand that this restaurant is very famous and your staff was bustling, but we were a guest, and sadly we were not treated like one. Therefore, we decided to meet you to aware you of the quality of the food and the service that we had experienced. Sadly, the waiter informed us that you were not available and consequently, we decided to leave the restaurant without finishing our dinner. I would like you to look into the matter and take steps to improve the quality of the service and the food so that we don't have to face a similar situation again. Regards, Thomas
