Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions
Read the following information.
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theatre.
City Development Survey :
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.
To whom it may concern. I, personally, think that building a shopping complex would be a much better option. Even though having a recreational park in our city would add values, having a shopping complex would be more beneficial to our city. There are many unemployed people in our city as there is no business centre in our area and there are no Job opportunities. Building a shopping mall will increase employment, and people will see good hope of earning there to lead a better life. Another benefit of building a shopping mall is to include new transportation and a new way of earning. We had seen when Scarborough got a new mall, the city all together got a new look, and a new phase had started there. There will be people coming to our city to visit the mall over the weekend and have a good time there. We do not have any movie theatre here, and the resident has to go to a different city to watch cinemas. For the reasons mentioned above, having a shopping mall would be suitable for our city, and the resident would be overjoyed. Again, this is my thought, and I would support whatever decision is made. I appreciate you for allowing me to voice my opinion. Regards, Mike
