Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Dear Manager, I am writing this email to express my dissatisfaction because of my worse experience that I had when I made a reservation for dinner at your restaurant a few days back. Even though it cost me an arm and a leg. I was very unhappy with the food and services of your restaurant. There were two major problems with the food. To begin with, the soup which we were served was very cold and extremely spicy. Also, the vegetables were used in our Cesar's salad were stale and taste awful. The service of your place was not up to mark. Firstly, we had to wait for 30 minutes even though we have made a prior reservation. To add on, waiters were very rude and unprofessional. Last but not least, they were busy watching the baseball game during rush hours and inattentive. In order to rectify the problem, I would like to suggest that you should provide proper training to your staff and teach some basic work ethics. Regards, Joe
