Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions

Read the following information.

You live in a small city. City administration is planning to allocate funds for two possible projects.

Your City is funding ONE of the given projects :

Option A: Option A: Bike Lanes: Planning to build new separate lanes for bikers
Option B: Renovate gym: Planning to add a swimming pool and spa centre in existing gym

To whom it may concern I firmly believe that gyms should be refurbished with a pool and spa, as it will motivate citizens to stay healthy and boost our economy. Many people in my area refuse to join the gymnasium as they find exercise unexciting. Therefore, it is not surprising to know that out of the 10000 population, only 1200 people have a gym membership. However, with the emergence of new attractions at the gym in the form of a swimming pool and spa, it will encourage many citizens to join the gym, which ultimately will contribute towards their good health. Over the years, economists have found that physical fitness positively impacts the economy in terms of discounted lifetime costs, annual direct health care costs, productivity due to reduced absenteeism, and capacity for independent living among older adults. Thus, there are two significant economic benefits from physical activity - its contribution to health care savings and its effect on the economy. Thus, in my opinion, the administration should fund the reconstruction of a gym because it improves the physical health of the society and increases the overall economy of our town by decreasing unhealthy living.
