Writing Task 2: Responding to Survey Questions

Read the following information.

You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the centre of town is undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to have built in that area.

City Development Survey :

Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large supermarket, and a movie theatre.
Option B: Recreational Park: This park would include a sports complex, a large green area, and a small petting zoo.

To whom it may concern, Thanks for allowing me to express my opinion on our beautiful town. I prefer option A as my preference because constructing a shopping complex is needed for our town at this moment. This way, it could benefit people living in the town. The reason being for my opinion lies firmly for the development of the town. As our town is ancient, some new construction would make it shine. A little touch of a modern building will attract customers from a nearby town. It will increase revenue and can be used for further development. In addition to it, a modern building will come with increased security around the area. As our town has a maximum number of crimes registered around its centre, constructing a shopping complex will be a great help to reduce the effects. Moreover, as security guards would be placed for the shopping complex, the people would feel comfortable there even in the late nights when most of the crime happens. Looking upon these advantages of creating a mall, I think option A is a suitable choice for our town. Kind Regards Mark
