Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Dear Restaurant Manager, Yesterday evening, my wife, teenage son and I dined at Valentino's to celebrate the high school graduation of my son. We have always enjoyed our food at Valentino's, but last evening, the food was unsatisfactory. Since there was no manager available when we dined, I would like to share the details of my visit and request a satisfactory resolution. The food that we ordered was overcooked. The steak that we ordered was utterly bland. Moreover, tomatoes in the Greek salad seemed to be rotten. The service was pathetic. We waited for 25 minutes till the server gave us the menu, and the appetizers arrived at the same time as the entrees. I was shocked to discover that my wine glass was rimmed with pink lipstick. Having eaten at Valentino's many times before, we were surprised by the poor quality of food and service we received last evening. Therefore, I respectfully request that the bill we paid of $127.33 be refunded in full. Please reverse the charges on my card, or phone me at +1 123 343 2233, if you require more information. Best regards Mike
