Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Dear Manager, I reserved a table for dinner at your restaurant for my kids 2nd birthday party last Friday. It was a planned event and I have informed your contact person about the number of guests who would be joining us for the party. I had requested your staff for two starters of vegetarian and non- vegetarian, continued by soup variety. Adding to it I told the service boy to bring the main course dishes immediately. However, the requested items are not served to our guests. The food provided to us is not up to the mark. I was upset about the behavior of the staff when we didn't get the food which we have ordered. I tried to reach your restaurant manager but I couldn't find him throughout the entire time we had spent at your place and left your restaurant without a resolution. I appreciate if you could step in immediately and understand the customer grievances and take appropriate steps to control these kinds of issues in the future. Thanks Joe
