Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You have decided to leave your current employment.

Write a letter to your employer in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • Explain why you are writing,
  • Explain why you have decided to leave the company,
  • Tell your employer what you plan to do after leaving.

Dear Mary, I am writing you this mail because I want to resign from my position as an Assistant Designer. I have decided to move from Toronto to Quebec because my grandparents live in Quebec alone and are not well. No one can look after them. I don't want them to be alone at this stage of their life. I also thought about commuting, but it will not be possible for me to commute daily for work as it is about 3 hours ride between my hometown and our office. I will search for jobs in the companies nearby home to be with my family in the hour of need. I have enjoyed working with such a great team and have learned a lot from this company.
