Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You recently made reservations for dinner at a very famous and expensive restaurant in town. However, the meal and the service were terrible. The restaurant manager was not available to solve the problem, so you left without a resolution.

Write an email to the restaurant's manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • State what problems you had with the food you ordered.
  • Complain about the service.
  • Describe how you want the restaurant to resolve the problem to your satisfaction.

Hi Manager, I am writing this email to inform you of the experience I recently had at your restaurant. I made reservations two weeks ago at your restaurant to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday. We arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes before our 6:00 pm reservation. Once we arrived, They inform us that we would have to wait an additional 40 minutes for our table to be ready. I was displeased that we were expected to wait another 40 minutes for our table, despite the fact, we had reservations. We were shown to our table 40 mins later, and things just got worse from here. My husband ordered the T-Bone steak and requested that the steak be cooked to his liking, which was rare. Unfortunately, when the steak arrived, it was cooked to a medium-well and ice cold. At this point of time, we were so hungry that we paid for the meal and left the restaurant. Your service and meal ruined my husband's birthday. You should provide us with a free meal at your restaurant as means to rectify the terrible experience we had. I look forward to hearing from you. Regards, Anna
