Writing Task 1: Writing an Email

Read the following information.

You are a resident of a large colony. You found a gold chain in the colony compound. You are willing to find the owner of the chain and therefore want the help of the authority.

Write an email to the Manager of the colony in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

  • Give a description of the chain and the place where you found it.
  • Ask help from Secretary of the colony in tracing the owner

Dear Mr Lewin, This is Mark, one of the residents of Sullivan square. I'm writing to you to ask for help, in finding the owner of the lost gold chain I found in our society yesterday. I found this necklace yesterday around 6:00 pm, while I was taking my dog for an evening walk. Although there was no one in the dog park, the chain was fallen outside the entrance gate. As I'm a goldsmith, I can say, the gold chain seems like it is designed for women, it has attached pendant of an Indian god 'Shiva' and two emerald stones on each side of the locket. In fact, it might worth $3000. As the jewellery is expensive, I want to make an effort to look for the owner and return their belonging. Therefore, I request the management to notify the inhabitants of Sullivan Square about the chain via email or newsletter and help me in finding the proprietor. I would appreciate all your support. Kind Regards, Mark
